Claude Code Course: Build Custom Business Apps in Half a Day

A half-day live Claude Code workshop for founders and operators. You install Claude Code, set up a basic agent operating system, and build a custom business app with Daniel watching your screen.

Four hours on Zoom. Four people maximum. You finish the session with your first custom business app running on your machine, set up on the same agent operating system that runs the AI advisory practice and the AI work at Northbase. Sits between training, workshop, and masterclass: small-cohort, hands-on, you leave with something working.

What You Build

The session is hands-on. You install Claude Code, configure it, and start using it on your own machine while Daniel watches your screen.

Three things happen in order:

1. Get Claude Code running
Install Claude Code on your machine. Wire up the basics. Sort the Terminal setup so you can move fast for the rest of the session. Anyone who walks in cold leaves with a working installation.
2. Set up a basic agent operating system
Build the file structure that turns Claude Code into a system instead of a one-off tool. The same shape Daniel uses to run the advisory practice and AI work at Northbase, stripped to the parts that matter for someone starting out. By the end of this section you have a working OS for your own work.
3. Build your first custom business app
Use Claude Code to build something your business actually needs. A report generator. An email triage tool. A client onboarding script. A data pipeline. You bring the use case, Daniel walks you through getting it running, and you leave with the app working and the skill to build the next one on your own.

Who This Is For

Founders, operators, and lead-people at small and mid-size businesses who want to build their own internal tools with Claude Code.

Code-writing is not required. The course is built for non-developers and non-programmers who want to learn Claude Code well enough to vibe-code their own business apps. Comfort opening Terminal is required, or willingness to learn it during the session.

Not a fit for: people looking for a no-code drag-and-drop builder, enterprise teams who need an org-wide rollout plan, anyone who wants to passively watch and not type during the session, or developers looking for advanced agentic-AI architecture (see the agent operator guide and Chief Agent Officer pages instead).

Why Four Seats

The structure is hands-on training: four hours, four people in a Zoom room, each walked through getting their own app running before the session ends.

Cohort cap is four because the format is hands-on. Every attendee needs time on screen, setup checks, and live debugging when something breaks. Four is the number where everyone walks out with their first app running.

Why Daniel Teaches This

Daniel Bilsborough, Claude Code course teacher in Melbourne

The AI advisory practice and the AI work at Northbase run on the same agent operating system you'll be setting up. Claude Code as the backbone, with a directory structure that turns it from a chatbot into an OS.

Background is enterprise tech: Hewlett-Packard, then Siemens in London. Then 15 years running businesses across photography, education, marketing, and web. Plenty of expensive mistakes along the way that taught the underlying systems thinking. Currently Marketing and AI lead at Northbase, handling the AI strategy and implementation for a real company.

The course teaches what's working in production right now. More about Daniel's background.

Common Questions

How is this different from Anthropic's free Claude Code course (Claude Code in Action)?

Anthropic's free Claude Code course (Claude Code in Action) walks through the tool itself. This course teaches you to build the specific business apps your business needs using Claude Code. Half a day, four people, taught by someone who runs his own businesses on this exact setup. Closer to a small-cohort training or masterclass than a self-paced video course.

Do I need to be a developer?

No. Comfort in Terminal is required, or willingness to learn it during the session. The course is built for non-developers and non-programmers shipping business apps without a dev team.

What do I walk away with?

A working Claude Code installation. A basic version of the agent operating system file structure on your machine. Hands-on experience building your first custom app during the session. The skill to keep building once the session ends.

What if I get stuck after the session?

Course graduates can book a follow-up advisory session at the standard advisory rate. The course gives you the foundation. Advisory is for when you've built three apps and want a second opinion on the fourth.

Do you run private sessions for teams?

Yes. Private four-seat sessions are available for a single team. Same format, your people only. Mention it in the inquiry.

Can I attend from outside Australia?

Yes. The course runs on Zoom. Cohorts are scheduled to land at workable hours across Australia, the UK, and US East Coast on a rolling basis. Pick a cohort that suits your timezone.

What's your refund policy?

Full refund up to 7 days before the session. Inside 7 days, the seat can be transferred to a future cohort. The course is small-cohort, so a no-show inside 7 days takes a seat someone else could have used.

Is there a Claude Code certification or certificate?

There is no formal Claude Code certification from Anthropic. This course doesn't issue one either. You leave with a working custom business app you built during the session and the skill to keep building. A signed completion note is available on request for anyone who needs one for L&D records.

Register interest in the next Claude Code course cohort. Daniel will confirm the next available date and time within 48 hours.

Each inquiry is reviewed personally. Cohorts cap at four people, so seats fill on a first-confirmed basis.
